Untitled (Panel) is a hand-rusted metal panel with hundreds of resin-covered drops of honey.
The sculpture came out of my exploration of local beekeeping and honey production in Piedmont, Italy, looking in particular at black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia). I became interested in its introduction to the region and its later use in land restoration. Over time, it stopped being just an introduced species and became part of the area’s ecological and cultural identity. The work explores the contradictions this brings up, around classification, land use, and the overlap between post-industrial and natural landscapes.
